　　I’m a 20―year―old boy, and the following is my story.

　　A month after I graduated from high school in August, 2013, I was coming home from swim_practice in the training centre of the city and was involved in a car accident. I was so seriously injured that I was in a coma for more than two months at Prince Georges Hospital.

　　I suffered a lot from the experience of dying eight times during my coma and I couldn’t open my mouth to talk or to communicate when I eventually came around. At that time, it seemed that walking was never going to happen again due to all the extreme injuries. Just like my body, my dreams were completely destroyed. But I was not going to let my injuries stop me from realizing my dreams．

　　After receiving a total of 15 operations and 36 blood transfusions, I had to make every great effort to learn to talk, eat, walk, shower, and live on my own again. When I was out of hospital,_I still had to go to outpatient therapy in Waldorf, Maryland. After I spent a few months in a wheelchair,_I took baby steps to walk on my own. It was a miracle that I was able to walk again, but I still wanted to prove that I could not only walk, but also run.

　　When it came true, I wanted to get back into the pool again. After having a few lung tests, I was able to go in the pool a little bit each week. After a few months of swim training,_I began my freshman year at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and then became a proud member of the swim team.

　　By telling my story, I want to make a positive influence on the world. I am just trying to live dad push me round in my them and their family members. I wanted to let them know that everything was going to be okay. Somehow, things would work out for the best.

　　People all over the world today are beginning to hear and learn more and more about the problem of pollution. Pollution is caused either by man’s release of completely new and often artificial substances into the environment, or by releasing greatly increased amounts of a natural substance, such as oil from oil tankers into the sea.

　　The whole industrial process which makes many of the goods and machines we need and use in our daily lives, is bound to create a number of waste products which upset the environmental balance, or the ecological balance as it is also known. Many of these waste products can be prevented or disposed of sensibly, but clearly while more and more new and complex goods are produced there will be new, dangerous wastes to be disposed of, for example, the waste products from nuclear power stations. Many people, therefore, see pollution as only part of a larger and more complex problem, that is, the whole process of industrial production and consumption of goods.

　　Others again see the problem mainly in connection with agriculture, where new methods are helping farmers grow more and more on their land to feed our ever-increasing populations. However, the land itself if gradually becoming worn out as it is being used, in some cases, too heavily, and artificial fertilizers cannot restore the balance.

　　Whatever its underlying reasons, there is no doubt that much of the pollution caused could be controlled if only companies, individuals and governments would make more efforts. In the home there is an obvious need to control litter and waste. Food comes wrapped up three or four times in packages that all have to be disposed of; drinks are increasingly sold in bottles or tins which cannot be reused. This not only causes a litter problem, but also is a great waste of resources, in terms of glass, metals and paper. Advertising has helped this process by persuading many of us not only to buy things we neither want nor need, but also to throw away much of what we do buy.

　　Pollution and waste combine to be a problem everyone can help to solve bycutting out unnecessary buying, excess consumption and careless disposal of the products we use in our daily lives.

　　Ted made a fortune and hiked back his idyllic home in illustrious guises. He wore a grand hat, a pair of gilded glossy shoes and a girdle with glazed tip. All neighbors in the gorge welcomed Ted with homage instead of grudge, and he was gleeful as well as haughty.

　　Yet, Ted’s father, who used to be humane, criticized him bitterly: “How hideous you are! We used to be hardy and hectic. We’re gregarious and never guileless. Now you made a haphazard fortune and lost our virtues. Hearsay says that you get your money by harrying passengers and hewing trees. Somebody even imparted me that you’ve committed immense homicide. If you’ve done those illicit things, It’s surely ignominious idiosyncrasy, and you’ll lose your imminent heirship if you go on like that.” He humiliated Ted.

　　Ted imbibed some tea, groped his match and ignited a cigar. “You’re too hackneyed and grumpy,” he grumbled in a grouchy voice, “I cannot gratify your obsolete ideology. You old people used to live like ignoble cattle and illegible grasses. You glean grain from fields and heave them back in gratitude to the God. You gnaw dirty food everyday, ignorance of hygiene. All my wealth hinges on my gripping many chances and it’s unreasonable for you to gibe me like that.”

　　The hubbub of haggling attracted many neighbors who were heedless at first. Some of them approved the son’s grievance while others took it as heresy. The quarrel’s gist was generation gap.

　　With the development of information technology and reduced price of communication products, the mobile Phone has become a necessity for most people. Obviously, it shortens the distance between people and makes our lives more convenient. Thanks to it, its easy for us to contact or be contacted by others anytime and anywhere.

　　But, have you noticed that sometimes the mobile phone also brings inconvenience to others? Its not rare to see someone pressing the mobile phone to his ear and shouting loudly in public as if there were no one else present. And Im sure each one has had such an experience that the mobile phone ring continuously on a formal occasion. Perhaps these People have many life-and-death reasons to keep the phone working at all times, but it interrupts people around them who have to hear what they dont care when they want to concentrate on what theyre doing.

　　So if you are one of them, please switch off your cell phone in public, especially on a quiet and serious occasion. Its a respect for both others and yourself.

　　Everyone has goals. Many people do not reach their goals for lack of planning. These three sets of goals should be developed: lifetime, intermediate and short term.

　　Lifetime goals should be written out. These goals should be clear and reasonable. For instance, the goal to win a research prize is clear and measurable. Other lifetime goals might include publishing a certain number of influential books or articles, earning a departmental chairmanship at a major university, successfully competing for a grant from the National Science Foundation or securing a consultantship with a big corporation. Intermediate goals relate to outcomes during the next few years. For the beginning doctoral student, intermediate goals may include completion of course work and preparation of a doctoral research proposal. Like lifetime goals, these are measurable and clearly stated.

　　Short-term goals involve outcomes expected during the next 12 months. These goals are more performance oriented, and they help with achievement of intermediate goals. Examples of short-term goals are earning an A in a course, learning how to program a computer or performing an experiment.
