Child sent to hospital after falling from ceiling tile at elementary school

A boy was sent to the hospital after falling from a ceiling tile at Windsor Elementary School in Des Moines.

A KCCI photojournalist saw EMS, fire and police bringing the child out of the school on a stretcher just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Des Moines Fire Department confirms the student fell from a ceiling tile. Firefighters say EMS brought the boy to Blank Children's Hospital, but the child is expected to be OK.

Fire officials didn't know how the student got into the ceiling.

Staff members with Des Moines Public Schools declined to provide any information on how the student fell from the ceiling, citing student privacy rights.
