One of my 2023 goals is to offer free advice to a starting tech company. Here are the conditions:
1/ let’s start with why:
👉Starters have no money but lots of questions
👉Tech entrepreneurs that already went through the early stage 🌱 learned a lot through making their own mistakes
👉While it’s all fresh in the memory, it’s best to disseminate those lessons to others. Waiting for 10 more years doesn’t make any sense
👉Entrepreneurs are very good advisory boards members because they know what it’s like to have your hands dirty and build things from scratch
👉In early stage you especially need what I call ‘dirty hands feedback’. It is wit based on experience rather than based on textbook.
👉I now have my own business for almost 6 years, and I feel I have lots of lessons to share to starters.
👉But I won’t give structural advice to scale-ups right now as I still have to learn a lot myself. I’ll keep it to a startup.
2/ The conditions:
🌱Your startup must be in early stage: you just started or are in business for 1 to 3 years
🧠It must be a highly innovative business trying to change the world through knowledge and (deep) tech. An ideal case is a university spinoff.
⚛️🧪Preferably in the field of biosciences or life sciences - (bio)process industry
😨Founder(s) must be extremely open to feedback and value it
👉 In 99% of the cases I’ll never give ‘black or white advice’. I learned this can be very dangerous. I’ll share my point of view but you’ll need to validate it.
⏰ Time commitment will be discussed and agreed upon.
