Abstract: The crowding out effect of natural resource dependence on technological innovation is one of the reasons for the ;resource curse;. This paper firstly analyzes the transmission mechanism of natural resource dependence crowding out technological innovation, and then uses the data of 31 provinces in China to empirically analyze the influence of natural resource dependence on technological innovation input and technological innovation output. The results show that, on the whole, the natural resource dependence has a crowding out effect on technological innovation input and technological innovation output. However, further analysis shows that the crowding out effect of natural resource dependence on technological innovation input and technological innovation output exists only in regions with high resource dependence. To avoid the resource curse, from the point of view of technological innovation, to eliminate the crowding out effect of natural resource dependence on technological innovation, for the region with a high degree of resource dependence, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of input and output of technological innovation.
