A decade after the Big Recession, big SUVs are hot again amid low gas prices and favorable economic conditions. If you’re seeking a big rig for hauling and towing more than just a family, this guide details the 10 most popular* full-size SUVs and crossovers.

It’s been more than 10 years since Toyota redesigned the Sequoia, but this Tundra pickup-based SUV is rugged, reliable, and roomy. A 381-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine powers the rear or all four wheels, and it’s a thirsty engine. You’ll choose between SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, and Platinum trim levels.

The GMC Yukon XL is the GMC Yukon what the Chevy Suburban is to the Chevy Tahoe. In other words, it’s an extended version with more room for passengers and cargo. Two V8 engines are available, along with four trim levels including the popular and pricey Denali. A 4-wheel-drive system is an option.

Based on the same platform and powertrain as the Infiniti QX80, the Nissan Armada brings an unexpected level of refinement for a mainstream brand. A 390-hp 5.6-liter V8 powers the rear wheels unless you get 4-wheel drive, and the Armada is available in SV, SL, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve trim.

Redesigned for 2018, the Buick Enclave is a crossover rather than a truck-based SUV. It's big inside, and has more maximum cargo space than the GMC Yukon. A 3.6-liter V6 provides plenty of power via front- or all-wheel drive, and trim levels include Preferred, Essence, Premium, and Avenir.

GMC’s Yukon is among the smallest full-size SUVs on the inside, though you’d never guess that by looking at it. At the same time, you can upgrade from the standard 5.3-liter V8 to a big 6.2-liter. Four trim levels are available, as well as 4-wheel drive. If you want a big cargo area behind the third-row seat, get the Yukon XL.

Ford redesigned the Expedition for 2018, transforming it into one of the most modern choices in the segment. Standard and extended-length (EL) versions are available, and they all come with a twin-turbocharged V6 and rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. You’ll choose between XLT, Limited, and Platinum trim levels.

Volkswagen’s first family-sized SUV is big inside, with three legitimately comfortable rows of seats and lots of cargo space. The base model has a turbocharged 4-cylinder, while all the rest get a V6 engine. Trim levels include S, SE, SEL, and SEL Premium, some of which are offered in racy-looking R-Line specification.

The first Suburban went on sale in 1936. Now, nearly 85 years late, it’s the third best-selling large SUV in the land. Engines include a 5.3-liter or a 6.2-liter V8, and the Suburban comes in LS, LT or Premier trim. Get the RST Package, and the Suburban gets a custom look.

In the mid-1990s, Chevrolet shortened the Suburban to create the Tahoe. In exchange for a lower price, the Tahoe had less interior space, and that’s still true today. If you’re cool with that, you can choose between two V8 engine and LS, LT, and Premier trim. A sporty RST Package is also available for the Tahoe.

The best-selling large SUV is the Chevy Traverse, an 8-passenger crossover SUV that’s actually a little bigger inside than the Tahoe. Nearly all of them have a 3.6-liter V6, except the front-drive-only RS version. All-wheel drive is optional with the V6 engine, and five additional trim levels are available aside from the RS.
