如何用英文向老外介绍腊八节/腊八粥？

腊八节这天，两个最重要的传统就是喝腊八粥和祈福新年平安了。

Laba rice porridge contains glutinous rice, red beans, millet, Chinese sorghum, peas, dried lotus seeds, and some other ingredients, such as dried dates, chestnut meat, walnut meat, almond, peanut, etc.

At least eightingredients will be used, cooked with sugar to make the porridge tasty.

腊八粥包括糯米，红豆，小米，高粱米，青豆，莲子等成分，“八”同时也象征着粥里要包含八种以上成分，并与糖调和，给人以甜糯软香的口感。

People from north of China prefer to use glutinous rice, red beans, dates, lotus seeds, dried pulp, walnuts, pine nuts and other dried fruits in their porridge; whilst southerners enjoy a salty porridge prepared with rice, soybeans, peanuts, broad beans, taro, water chestnuts, walnuts, vegetables anddiced meat.

Some people also like to add cinnamon and other condiments to make ita special flavour.

在腊八粥的成分和口味上，中国南北方人偏好各有不同，有些人还会根据自己的喜好添加特别的调味品，让这碗腊八粥变得更加别致。

Controlling the heat is of great importance in making Laba porridge. At the beginning,the mixture of water and bean should be heated over a high flame, but afterboiling the flame would be turned down to let the porridge simmer until itbegins to emit a very delicious smell.

The process is time-consuming but notcomplicated.

要想煮得一碗香甜可口的腊八粥，控温是最关键的秘诀之一。刚开始用高火，沸腾后小火慢煮，直至香味溢出。熬制过程耗时不短，但其实步骤很简单。

Laba porridge is not only easy to prepare, but also a nutritious winter foodbecause it contains amino acids, protein, vitamins and other nutrition peopleneed. Cooked nuts and dried fruit are good for soothing nerves, nourishingone's heart and vitality, and strengthening the spleen.

腊八粥不仅便于熬制，而且是一道营养成分颇高的美食，一碗地道的腊八粥几乎涵盖了人机体所需的所有蛋白质、维他命和其他营养成分，不同的成分可分别作用于人的神经、心肺、脾胃，对健康非常有益。

Virtually every household in China eats Laba porridge on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month; Today, Labaporridge serves as a symbol of reunion, good fortune, long life, and fruitful harvest.

渐渐的，喝腊八粥已经变成了每个中国家庭的不可缺少的“仪式”。如今，腊八粥也已成为一种团聚、丰收、长寿和财富的美好象征。
