Abstract:
For reducing the deficiency of the current vibration method for stayed-cable in cable-stayed bridge, the idea of using vibration damper is put forward. In order to verify the effectiveness of this method, motion equations were formulated for a system combined by a cable and vibration damper, and the system has been transformed into modal equations in terms of the generalized coordinates with the mode superposition method, and the corresponding state equation is established by using the state space method, and its dynamic simulation has been implemented with the SIMULINK. The experiment of cable-damper system was carried out too, and the simulations of the same parameters were conducted by SIMULINK. It was found that the vibration reduction effect of the vibration damper is remarkable. The vibration frequency of the vibration damper should be consistent with the vibration frequency of the stay cable, and the installation quality should not be too small, and it should be installed in the larger cable amplitude. The results also show that the dampers are effective in restraining the cable vibration, and it is feasible to suppress the vibration of the long cable by using the vibration damper.
