I almost cancelled my pre-order after watching several reviews and I'm so glad I didn't.
There were lots of misinformation about this phone put out by numerous reviewer like 4K 120 Hz isn't possible or it'll only get one year of updates or slow auto rotate. All of which are false.
Currently used the Xperia 1 III for about 4 months and it has been nothing short of amazing. The display is very sharp and it doesn't flicker at low brightness like my other OLED phones, the Android software is very clean and responsive, pretty sure it's the fastest phone in 2021 (more responsive and smooth than the S21 ultra)
The camera is something I thought I was going to be disappointed but it was much better than what I expected. As long as you know the basics of photography you should get excellent results. Basic mode works well but it cannot unleash the full potential of the cameras. For videos it's great too, the stabilization is amazing and the main camera has very little noise but unfortunately you still can't change lens/cameras while recording. 4K 60 FPS & 4K 120 FPS can only be used in Cinema Pro but the footage that comes out of it is just amazing. You just have to make sure that your video editor and the platform you're going to upload to supports HLG (Davinci Resolve and YouTube both support HLG) otherwise the footage will look washed out and mushy. It seems like almost all reviewers don't know how to handle HLG or set exposure correctly and then blame it on the phone which is unfair.
The front facing stereo speakers are great too, they sound very full and much bigger than they actually are. Having both the SD card slot and headphone jack is very convenient, can't believe most manufacturers are removing it even though it is still a very popular connection. I have headphones and speakers that are wired and I can just plug the phone in without worrying about adaptors or dongles. Being able to extend the storage or transfer stuff to other devices without a physical connection is just great.
Battery care and Qnovo adaptive charging is something that I appreciate a lot. You know how every phone after one year of use has terrible battery life? With battery care and Qnovo you could have good battery life for 3 - 4 times longer. My 4 year old Sony phone still has 91% health. That's amazing especially in the mobile industry.
This is the best phone you can get in 2021 and it's worth every single cent.
