【夜读河北（英文版）】“红色旅游”

With exquisitely charming scenery, Mount Langya Contending for Beauty is one of the scenic spots in ancient states of Yan and Zhao (presently Hebei province). The mountain has long been known as “Minor Mount Huang in north China”. It boasts not only of natural scenery as gurgling spring and waterfalls, evergreen pines and cypresses, and karst cave of red agate but also of historic relics such as Chessboard Stone, Hall of Lao-tze, etc.

狼牙山风光迤逦，“狼牙竞秀”为古燕都古景之一，素有“北方小黄山”之称。山上既有流泉飞瀑，苍松翠柏、红玛瑙溶洞，又有石棋盘，老君堂等历史遗迹。

In August 1941, in order to cover the main force to withdraw, five communist soldiers distracted the Japanese invaders on Mount Langya. At last, they ran out of ammunition and food supplies and threw themselves off the top of the mountain successively to escape capture by the Japanese. Such heroic deed is well-known both home and abroad.

1941年8月，我某部5名战士为掩护主力部队转移，把侵华日军牵制在狼牙山上，终因弹尽粮绝，相继跳崖，他们的英雄壮举闻名中外。

To commemorate such spirit of self-sacrifice, people specially built a memorial on the mountain. Marshal Nie Rongzhen even personally wrote the 9-character title of “Memorial of Five Heroes of Mount Langya”. Overlooking from the pavilion atop, the majestic vista of the mountain spreads before visitors’ eyes. Looking with reverence at the place where the five heroes fought against enemies and sacrificed themselves, the visitors always contemplate a lot in awe.

为纪念“狼牙山五壮士”英勇献身的精神，特别在狼牙山建塔纪念，聂荣致元帅亲笔题写“狼牙山五勇士纪念塔”。从塔顶凉亭俯瞰，狼牙山雄姿尽收眼底。游人至此，瞻仰当年五勇士英勇杀敌和舍身跳崖之处，缅怀勇士，万缕情思，不禁油然而生。

狼牙山景点——老君堂

老君堂即汉武帝太子刘据之子避难处。在褡裢峰半山腰，依天然山洞而建，供奉道教三清之一的太上老君，因建于悬崖，又称悬空寺。老君堂在万丈悬崖，地势险要，1941年9月八路军在狼牙山阻击日军，一分区一团七连掩护数万名干部、群众突围的指挥部，设在老君堂，指挥棋盘坨、姑姑坨及老君堂附近抗击日军的战斗，爱国道士石海中曾于此巧斗日本兵，并保护军用物资。1943年秋后反"扫荡"中，他还在此照料杨成武养病。
