This listing is curated by me, Alex, the casiofanmag devoted reader and contributor (and fan of CASIO watches since 2009). I monitor all CASIO news worldwide daily and update all listings on this site if needed. If you find something outdated, please push me here in the comments section or via my email.

“Memory In Pixel” (MIP) is a type of display technology that is commonly used in the watch industry. MIP displays are popular due to their low-power consumption and reflective display technology, which is similar to electronic paper (e-ink) displays.

Since the year 2020, Casio has been making extensive use of MIP (Memory In Pixel) displays in their watches. The GPR-B1000 was the first Casio MIP watch to be introduced back in 2018. It appears that Casio took some time to carefully consider how to best utilize this technology, resulting in an impressive implementation that we can now see.

MIP Display in G-SHOCKs: PROs& CONSs

PROs

— Make G-SHOCKs more functional *you can get notifications and use advanced sports features or so— Extremely power-efficient— Good visibility in direct sunlight— Good Contrast and Sharpness— Provides a great variability of watch displays *different designs, adjustable data— Can be used in classic square G-SHOCKs case— Looks more modern— Displays a lot of different data on one screen at once

CONs

— Slower Refresh Rates *less smooth animations or transitions— G-SHOCKs become overloaded with features *in case you want simplicity— Too complicated software in comparison with traditional G-SHOCKs *you need to update it from time to time. There may be some errors— No Solar Powered simple G-SHOCKs with MIP Display (only as “solar assisted” option in advanced models)
