指的是短暂的停留、顺道拜访。

【例句】

Lisa is thinking if she needs to drop by the bakery to get some breakfast on her way to work.

Lisa 正在思考他是否需要在去公司的路上，顺便去面包店买个早餐。

drop out 是辍学、暂停上学，

也就是在你完成所有学业毕业之前就先停止去学校的意思。

【例句】

Timmy was forced to drop out of college because his family couldn't afford the tuition anymore.

因为他的家人无法再负担学费，Timmy 被迫辍学。

意指力气逐渐衰退，或是数量减少。

【例句】

With more and more competitors, the sales volume of the product has gradually dropped away.

面对越来越多的竞争者，这项产品的销量逐渐下滑。

和字面上的意思相同，代表落后某人的意思，

可以是赛跑、队伍中真的落后别人，

也可以是比较抽象的落后，例如输给某人。

【例句】

Despite the fact that the student drops behind most people in the class right now, his teacher still has high expectations for him.

尽管这个学生现在落后班上的多数人，他的老师对他还是有很高的期望。

意指没有结果、最后什么都没有的意思！

【例句】

Unfortunately, it turned out that the project had dropped through. The client didn't give us any responses.

不幸地是，看来项目告吹了，客户并没有给予任何回应。

drop off 有三种意思，第一个意思是逐渐减少，和 drop way 类似，

另外还有把某人或某物接送到某个地方之后离开，

或是小睡片刻、打瞌睡的意思！

【例句】

The cost of sales has successfully dropped off! It seems that the strategy does work!

销货成本成功地减少了！看来这个策略确实是奏效了！

The mother dropped her kids off at the supermarket and would be right back.

那个妈妈先将孩子们送到超市，马上就会回来。

The employee couldn't help but drop off during the meeting because he burned the midnight oil last night.

那个员工忍不住在会议中打瞌睡，因为他昨晚熬夜。

around 有转圈的意思，

但是 drop around 却是传送或是突然拜访某人的意思。

【例句】

Danny dropped around to see his fiancée on his way to work. He missed her so much and prepared a surprise gift for her.

Danny 在工作的路上临时去见未婚妻，他非常想她并且准备了一个惊喜礼物。

drop back 是落回的意思，可以是实际物体的落下，

像是球类，也有比较抽象的意思，例如落后或是价值的下跌。

【例句】

The ball dropped back to the floor and rolled to the corner of the room.

那个球落到地上，并且滚到房间的角落。

Somehow the racing car started to drop back other rivals after the right turn.

不知为何地那辆赛车在右转之后便开始落后其他对手。
