英语破折号的用法

英文破折号的主要用法如下：

1）英文破折号经常用于解释前文的内容或发生的原因。You must remember one thing – always be polite. 你必须记住一件事 ―― 始终要有礼貌。Don’t call her after 8 o'clock in the evening – she usually goes to bed very early. 晚上8点之后不要打电话给她 ―― 她一般很早睡觉。

2）破折号可用于在一句话的中间插入解释She is – how shall I put it? – not exactly fat, but rather well-built for her age. 她 – 我怎么说呢？―― 不太胖，但就她的年龄而言，身材很健美。During my holiday – I must be insane – I decided to go to work in Iraq. 放假期间 -- 我想我是疯了 – 我居然决定去伊位克工作。

3）表示讲话的声音中断、延长或断续，或表示讲话时迟疑You – you will come to my place tomorrow! 你 －－ 你明天要到我这儿！I – I – I think – perhaps – he might be right. 我 ―― 我 ―― 我想 ―― 或许 ―― 他可能是对的。

4）表示意思的表达突然出现转折It normally runs perfectly, but still -- we have to be careful. 它通常能完美地运行，但是 ―― 我们仍然要小心才是。She is too shy – she must learn how to communicate with others. 她太害羞了 ―― 她应该学会怎样与其他人交谈。

5) 同位语同位语通常由逗号隔开，但破折号也可以有同位语的作用。Some trade unions – the Electrical Trades Union, for example – gave us their full support. 一些工会 ―― 例如电气工会 ―― 给了我们全力的支持。The seasons of the years – spring, summer, autumn, and winter – make a cycle. 一年四季 – 春、夏、秋、冬 ―― 形成一个循环。

6）总结前面列举的东西Good lecturers, nice textbooks, advanced facilities – we have everything for study. 好的讲师、好的教科书、高级的设备 ―― 我们拥有学习所需要的一切。
