　　Taking Vital Signs 测量生命体征

　　All the vital signs (temperature、pulse、respiration and blood pressure) must be taken every four hours, even at any moment for patients in severe conditions.Patients in stable conditions usually have their temperature and pulse taken twice a day.

　　Nurse: Good morning, Mr. Lane, I need to take your temperature. Would you please put the thermometer under your ampit for five minutes?

　　Patient: Ok, How many times should I have my temperature taken everyday?

　　Nurse: Usually your temperature must be taken twice a day. If you have a fever, it will be every 4 hours.

　　(5 minutes later...)

　　Nurse: Can I have the thermometer Please?

　　Patient: Here you are. Do I have a fever?

　　Nurse: A little. It’s 37.8℃. It will go down soon with the treatment going on. Don’t worry. Now let me count your pulse rate.

　　Patient: How is it?

　　Nurse: 84 per minute. It’s quite normal. I also have to take your blood pressure. I need your assistance.

　　Patient: All right. I will do whatever you ask me to do.

　　Nurse: Would you please roll up the sleeve of your left arm? I’m going to wind this cuff round your upper arm.

　　Patient: OK, no problem.

　　Nurse: You blood pressure is 120/80 mmHg.

　　Patient: Is it normal?
