On September 11, 2023, the Wisconsin Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Catholic Charities Bureau, Inc. v. State of Wisconsin Labor and Industry Review Commission – Case Number 20AP2007. This a review of a decision of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, District III (headquartered in Wausau) that reversed the Douglas County Circuit Court鈥檚 order, Judge Kelly J. Thimm, presiding, that ruled in favor of the decisions of the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and the Labor and Industry Review Commission (LIRC) exempting Catholic Charities Bureau from Wisconsin鈥檚 unemployment insurance.
