如何区分fact是可数名词还是不可数名词

你句中的fact不宜换用facts。fact既是可数名词也是不可数名词，在用法上它们还是有一定的差异的。

fact作为不可数名词表示“(与理论、空想、虚幻等相对的)现实、真实、真相”。在in fact“实际上，事实上”、in point of fact“事实上，实际上，就事实而论”、as a matter of fact“实际上，事实上，其实”等惯用词组中也都含有这种意义。如：

This newspaper article is based on supposition, not on fact. 报纸上的这篇文章是根据推想, 而不是事实。

He said he would pay, but in point of fact he has no money. 他说他要给钱, 可事实上他没有钱。

fact作可数名词表示具体的某个或某些“事实、现实、真相”。如：

It is a fact of life and you must face it. 这是一个无法改变的事实，你必须面对它。

Many of his statements were at variance with the facts. 他的说法有很多都和事实不符。

It is impossible to disguise the fact that business is bad.  生意不好这个事实是无法隐瞒的。
