I had an eight-year-old Inspiron 3847 PC and it had seen better days. It was starting to go on and off by itself, so I thought "It's time...."
When I plugged in the new one, an Inspiron 3020 desktop PC, with 512 GB SSD, 16GB RAM, and the Core i7-13700, let me say this: WOW!
I knew today's processors were faster than 2016's, but not how much. How many of us truly comprehend what a microsecond is? Let me start at the beginning.
When I plugged the PC in, it automatically downloaded all my info and apps. I was obviously pleased. Then I tinkered around, looking at Windows 11 (I had 10 in the older PC) to see if anything of use to me was in there. Some good, some not, and some just whatever--always more to learn. I was still pleasantly surprised w/most so, I'm still pleased.
Then I began surfing, and started to do my usual: paid bills, web surfed, shopped, grazed social media, etc....
And then, I was floored!
Floored? It was like getting out of a 1930s Duesenberg and into a 024 Dodge Challenger Hellcat (for those who know cars), and the pedal was ALL THE WAY to the floor! I could barely catch my breath.
(I swear if I didn't know better, I'd think this processor proved Einstein wrong, cuz it broke the speed of light! Right there in front of me!)
When deciding on this processor (the PC came in various forms), I'd read that it was, as one reviewer stated, "FAF," but I hadn't imagined what instantaneous really meant until that moment. If you need speed, this is your baby. Of course, as is the way with IoT and computers, this comes with an "it depends" attached. It depends on whether you're gonna put it into an older system with an older HDD and motherboard and everything else that goes along with that assortment of problems. And there's probably a lot more.
But if you're like me, and you're getting a system with everything already in it, but there's more than one option, the i7-13700 is the way to go. You will never get slowed down again by having ten tabs open on each of five opened windows and you're bouncing from one to another and back again. You'll never again have time to tap your fingers on your desk waiting for your PC to boot up and start running, or to switch to a newly clicked on website. You won't ever see that damned spinning buffer circle (damn, I HATE that thing!). I left out gaming cuz I'm not a gamer, but I'd bet this i7 could easily handle even the heftier(?) ones. Anyway, I promise, you will not regret having the i7-13700. Not at all!
