however, has very special meaning. 然而今天的就职典礼，有着特殊的意义。

Nevertheless, you should always focus on quality, not quantity. 然而，你应该始终关注质量，而不是数量。 

Yet the twilight zone is virtually unexplored. 然而，过渡带几乎未被探索过。notwithstanding这个单词我们在之前的外刊精读里详细讲解过。我们在这里复习一下：

notwithstanding [ˌnɒtwɪθˈstændɪŋ] 可以用作副词和介词，表示If something is true notwithstanding something else, it is true in spite of that other thing. 尽管例如： He despised William Pitt,

和surely一般是强调语气。CNN中曾出现这样一句话： It

certainly was a spectacle if not a spectacle bear. 如果不是眼镜熊，那当然是奇观。 

indeed the most memorable day of my life. 这的确是我一生中最值得怀念的日子。 

above all, a painting about turbulence. 他所描绘的主题是动荡。
