Abstract: In order to analyze the issue whether the polarization detection is beneficial to improve the detection of infrared system,noise equivalent polarization degree of polarization infrared detection system is deduced according to the investigation of polarization degree and noise,and then the relation between polarization degree signal noise ratio and intensity signal noise ratio is analyzed.Comparing with traditional infrared detection distance model,the distance model of polarization detection based on polarization degree signal noise ratio is built.At last,the operating range of two systems is analyzed and compared to obtain the basic conditions that the polarization detection is better than the intensity detection.
