“Phase” 和 “Phrase” 的分別

“Phase” 和 “Phrase” 這兩個英文單字只有一個字母之差，可是它們的意思卻大大不同啊。

“Phase” 可以用作名詞(Noun)或動詞(Verb)，用作名詞的時候，”Phase” 是「時期」、「階段」的意思。

(1) Every teenager has a rebellious phase.每位年青人都有反叛時期。

(2) The second phase of this development project will begin next July.這建案的第二期會在明年七月開始。

用作動詞的時候，”Phase” 是「分段」、「逐步」的意思，通常 “Phase” 後面都會跟著一個介系詞(Preposition)，以Phrasal verb的形態出現喔。

(3) The government will phase out this policy over the next two years.政府在未來兩年會逐步淘汰這項政策。[“Phase out” 是逐步淘汰的意思]

(4) This development project is being phased over ten years.這項建案會在十年期間逐步執行。

“Phrase” 也是可以用作名詞或動詞喔。

用作名詞的時候，”Phrase” 是「短句」、「片語」的意思。

(5) Is there something wrong with this phrase?這短句有甚麼問題嗎?

用作動詞的時候，”Phrase” 是「措辭」、「表達」的意思。

(6) I’m not sure how to phrase this politely, but you look weird in this dress.我不曉得怎麼說會比較有禮貌，你穿這條裙子很怪喔。
