元宵节都有哪些习俗呢？

吃元宵

Eating yuanxiao (sweet dumplings made with glutinous rice flour) is one of the special traditions of the Lantern Festival. The Lantern Festival is also called Yuanxiao Festival. Another name in Chinese for yuanxiao is tangyuan.

There are many different types of yuanxiao, with fillings covering the entire range of the Five Flavors (savory, spicy, sweet, sour, and salty). Sweet fillings are the most common, and include sweet bean paste, sesame, date paste, ginkgo nut, peanut, almond, and hawthorn fruit. Yuanxiao is not only a traditional holiday food, but also was used to express respect for the gods. Their round shape also represents perfection and unity.

If one has an answer to a riddle, he can pull the paper to let organizers check the answer. Gifts are presented to the people who get the right answers.

During the Tang, Song, Ming and Qing dynasties, lighting lanterns became a tradition for Chinese people.
