happen
为常用词。 作 “ 发生、 碰巧 ” 解。 用于表明 偶然 发生的, 没有预料到的事情。
例句: 1 ) The accident happened on the Sunday night.
2 ) What happened to you? ( 一般不说: What did you happen?)
3 ) Maybe something unexpected happened.
4 ) I happened to see him on my way home.
= It happened that I saw him on my way home.
take place
为稍正式用语。 一般指 非偶然性 事件的 “ 发生 ” , 即这种事件的 发生一定有某种原因或事先的安排 。 除 “ 发生 ” 外, 常翻译为 “ 进行、 举行、 开展 ” 。
1 ) The celebration ceremony takes place in July each year. 庆祝典礼在每年七月举 行。
2 ) Great changes have taken place in our hometown during the past ten years.
3 ) The Olympic Games of 2008 will take place in Beijing.
注意: happen 与
take place 通常都没有被动语态。
