Wei Liu - Biography
Dr. Wei Liu is currently an
Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
(EEE),
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and an
Honorary Assistant Professor
at the Department of EEE,
The University of
Hong Kong (HKU). He received his Ph.D. degree in EEE from HKU, in 2021. Subsequently, he joined his alma mater as a
Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of EEE
in 2021, supervised by
Prof. K.T.
Chau and Prof. C.C. Chan,
and then was promoted to Research Assistant Professor in 2022. He also served as
a Visiting Researcher with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) in
2019. Starting in September 2023, Dr. Liu joins the Department of
EEE and is also the Manager of Research Centre for Electric
Vehicles in PolyU. His research interests include electric vehicle technologies,
power electronics with artificial intelligence, wireless power transfer,
biomedical power electronics, and power semiconductor devices. He was awarded
the World鈥檚 Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University according to a single-year
impact (2023) in EEE.
Dr. Liu was the recipient of Power Engineering Prize from HKU, National
Scholarship, Excellent Paper Awards, and Best Presentation Award from
international conferences in the area of Electric Vehicles and Transportation
Electrification. He is a Guest Associate Editor of IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected
Topics in Power Electronics (JESTPE), Associate Editor of international journals, and Session Chair of
international conferences.
