本周五月花将继续讲解新的小作文数据描述-上升和下降表达。

小作文描述数据时经常需要写到“上升”和“下降”，线图、表格、柱形图都常用，本周五月花就教大家灵活运用表达上升和下降的词，改变词性、变换位置来丰富句式，单词按照数据变化的幅度来呈现：

上升表达

上升表达

1）increase/shoot up 作动词，后面介词用by，这个词简单但是用得频率最高，必须掌握正确用法：

例1：意大利的工业产值增长了5%。

Italy's industrial output increased/shot upby5%.

例2：预计香蕉的产量将提高15%.

It is estimated thatthe banana yield willincrease/shoot upby15 %.

*increase 作名词用，后面介词用of：

例1：那段时间增长了20%。

There was an increase/growth of 20%during the period.

例2：车辆持有率上升了50%。

There was an increase/growth of 50%in car ownership.

2）swell，增至：swell to +数字

例：到今年底，买房的人将增至20万

By the end of this year, the people with house ownership are expected to swell to 200,000.

3）jump (means suddenly increases or rises by a large amount in a short  time 短时大幅度地增长)

例1：销售额从50万美元增长到150多万美元。

Sales jumped from $0.5 million to over $1.5 million. 

例2：去年犯罪率猛升了15%。

The crime rate jumped by fifteen percent last year.

下降表达

下降表达

1）decline的用法同increase一致，动词后面接by，名词后面接of，a decline of

2）Plunge: 突然、快速下降　　

例：去年销量下跌了40%。

The sale figures plunged 40% last year.

3）Plummet: 快速急剧下降

例：股价连续6天急剧下跌。

The share prices have plummeted for the sixth successive day.

其他用法

1）用“see”搭配上升/下降来用

例1：2000年手机销量大幅上升。

2000 saw a dramatic increase/growthin the sales of cellphones.

例2：巴西20世纪90年代书的销量急剧下降。

Britain sawa steep dropin the sales of books in the 1990s

2）用“showing”来表示

例：2000年的犯罪率是15%，比较1995年的10%上升了5%。

The crime rate in 2000 was 15% compared to 10% in 1995, showing an increase of 5%。

3）用“upward trend和downward trend”来表示

例：生产率有上升趋势

There was an upward trendin productivity/output.

例：销量有下降趋势
