本指小巫师见到大巫师，其法术就无法施展。《太平御览．卷七三五．方术部．巫下引庄子》：「小巫见大巫，拔茅而弃，此其所以终身弗如也。」后比喻能力相差甚远，无法相提并论。通常有自谦的意味。汉．陈琳〈答张纮书〉：「今景兴在此，足下与子布在彼，所谓小巫见大巫，神气尽矣。」
