The evolution mechanics replacing the nobles. Basically if you own some amount of pokemon of a certain type you can evolve a pokemon without using an action.
For example I have a Charmander and I have 3 yellow pokemon, I can snatch a Charmeleon cards for free when it comes on the board. With a free action. So the combo of catching a pokemon to trigger an evolution (to essentially upgrade a pokemon for free).
Also the legendary pokemon requires you to use a masterball (a wild/ gold) which forces you to use a keep action which is interesting.
