The announcement, read out by the 81-year-old Samaranch, was answered with wild jubilation from the Chinese delegation in Moscow, and with fireworks in Beijing.IOC senior member Kim Un-Yong said after the voting that Beijing deserved the Olympic Games.

"Beijing is capable of staging a great Olympic Games," said the 71-year-old South Korean. "The result wasn't a surprise to me."

With the motto "New Beijing, Great Olympics"， Beijing promises to host a "Green Olympics"， a "Hi-tech Olympics" and the "People's Olympics"。

The 3,000-year-old city is becoming a truly international city and showing a new, vigorous image through its ongoing economic reforms.

Beijing enjoys the widest popular support among the five bidding cities. A Gallup opinion poll commissioned by the government showed 94.9 percent of the public in favor of it. The IOC's own surveys found support even higher. The Chinese government has pledged to spend 20 billion U.S. dollars building sports complexes and refurbishing the Beijing infrastructure. There are plans for a new exhibition center with twin skyscrapers that could be taller than any in the world.

I’m Li Hua, a student from China. I’m writing to express my interest in your recently advertised position for a volunteer of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

In terms of my personality, I’m outgoing and committed with a teamwork spirit. Furthermore, I not only have a good command of spoken English, but also have rich experience in volunteering. I’ve been a volunteer since I was a primary school student.

As for me, it’s of significance to be a volunteer of 2022 Games. That’s because it’s a perfect opportunity to display China to the world. Therefore, I believe I’m qualified for the position.

The Olympic Games are held every four years in a different city in the world. Athletes from different countries compete in a variety of sports which are divided into winter and sum mer games.

The Olympics began in Greece more than 2 700 years ago. The first recorded Olympic competition was held in 776 B. C. It was held in an outdoor stadium and about forty thousand people watched the event. The first thirteen Olympics consisted of only one racerunning. The games had been held regularly for about 1 200 years. Then, in the year 397 the Olympics were prohibited by the Roman Emporor.

It was not until 1896 that the first Olympics of modern times were held in Athens. From then on the games are held every four years rugularly. The Olympics have become the world＇s most important athletic events and a symbol of sporting friendship of all the people of the world.

It was in an unbelievable heart that the opening ceremony was so perpfect,and there were much too workers who paid a lot of effort.I was proud of this great moments as every act came from China, especially there was a large and unexpected draw in the center of the bird net which made people from all over the world intoxicate long.

About one and a half hours later,the athletes admission ceremony began from which I saw many countries seriously,and all of it should be honorable whatever had the number of athletes.I was so moved when all of the audiences in the bird net welcomed the athletes of chinese,Taibei better than previous athletes,which surely made them perceive coming back home.At last,Li Ning,who eventually made the main tourh light up called the prince of gymnastics.There had much too entertainments which could not Liu, What did you think so?

My Doll

Today is Sunday. I took out the nice doll again. Two years ago, my mother bought her for me on my birthday.

It is a girl. I like to call her "Yuan Yuan"， because she has a round face, a round head and round eyes. Her nose and mouth are round too.

Yuan Yuan is wearing a red and white dress, a red hat and red shoes. There is a long pigtail behind her head. I can see a smile on her face when I come back home. How lovely she is!

Yuan Yuan and I are good friends.She looks like my little sister. I usually play games with her. She often listens to me when I tell her a story. I go to bed with her. I think I cant sleep without her.

My spoken English is good and I can communicate with foreigners fluently. What’s more, I have other advantages – I’m especially fond of sports, familiar with Beijing, good at communication and always glad to help other. I’m willing to provide the best service for every athlete in Winter Olympic Games. Therefore, I think I’m suitable for serving the Games.

Nice to hear from you. You are welcome to be a volunteer of 2008 Olympic Games of Beijing. As a volunteer, you first act as a guide for the officials and athletes from all over the world. You are also an attendant. You need to prepare and deliver daily supplies, such as towels, soap, toothbrushes, pens, paper and so on, to the rooms of the officials' and athletes'。 If necessary, you may help the athletes to carry luggage. The job is simple, but tiring. None the less, it is very important and meaningful. What's more, you need to work 8 hours a day.

New Beijing, Great Olympics

The 2008 Olympic Game has been the most cheerful and anticipated event throughout Beijing ever since. Beijing was rewarded the right to host the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, yet the focus should be shifted from making a promise to fulfilling the promise made.

In my point of view, to bridge the gap between the promise and reality, Beijing still has a long way to go. To begin with, infrastructure construction should be the primary concern. Such infrastructures as communications and transportation system and facilities ought to draw our constant attention. First, traffic jam has been an age old headache in Beijing. The scene of long queues of vehicles worming their way inch by inch will surely cause great incontinence, and blemish the image of the city meanwhile. Next, to add enchantment to convenience, overall city planning is indispensable. Time permitting, a redesign of city layout and adjustment of architectural style would provide a better environment for fostering the characteristic, blending, oriental elegance with international grandeur, will tower aloft among surrounding architectures. To achieve such effect, Beijing shall solicit opinions from first rate architects and make an overall plan. Thirdly, quality of the population should be improved. To make an international metropolis, both “hardware” and “software” are important.

However, Rome was not built in a day. To carry out the promise of “New Beijing, Great Olympics”， deeds speak louder than words.
