·Admittedly I’m biased towards guys who actually understand the game of basketball. Castleton’s understanding of defensive rotations and his passing are evidence of that and are things I’m most impressed with.

And I think he could develop a nice little simple offensive package within a system working with Handy. He already has a nice little pick-n-roll/pick-n-pop game.

If Handy could just work with him on some simple post moves when the offense stalls and teach him how to absorb contact instead of shy away from it, I think he could be a very very valuable big off the bench, like a Sabonis-lite with better D lol.

We should take advantage of the fact that we’ll already get 50 games of Castleton and let him slowly develop. Prioritize using our 14th spot on a more reliable/experienced center

For example, sign Biyombo and see how things shake out. If Castleton starts to look so good that he’s obviously deserving to be our primary back-up C (and so we’d want him for more than just 50 games) just sign him to the 15th spot at that point in time.

(If you need to free up a spot later for trade or buyout market, just waive the worst of Hayes, Reddish, Biyombo)

If the argument is “how do we defend Jokic” the answer is you can’t defend him. Not 1 on 1 at least. It’s gonna always require help. Our defensive plan against him was fine, it’s the fact that he was hitting ridiculous shots while all their role players were making everything that killed us.

I say take the most skilled guy in Wood. We have Castleton that we can play if absolutely needed. Castleton is close to as good as these guys now and doesn’t take an actual roster spot. If we get Wood then we are probably as deep of a team as the Lakers have been in a while. Deeper than last year and deeper than 2020.
