【设计意图】利用谜语激活学生的思维,在调动学生学习积极性的同时,让学生初步感知本课的目标句型What does he / she do? He / She is ...以谜语的形式进行语言输入,为接下来学生的语言输出做好铺垫。

Step 2 Presentation

1. Present the vocabularies: businessman, other countries

【设计意图】认读businessman、other countries是本课时的难点。承接上一环节的谜语游戏,通过读一读、看一看、选一选的方式,让学生在语境中感知词义;对于多音节单词businessman,运用自然拼读法将其进行拆分,引导学生按音节认读,突破认读难点;通过认读mother感知other的发音,通过young感知oun的发音,再认读country、countries。

2. Pair work

T: What does your father / mother do?

S: He / She is ...

S1: What does your father / mother do?

S2: He / She is ...

【设计意图】利用师生、生生之间的信息差,通过师生问答、生生问答的方式操练目标句型,增强了学生主动提问的意识,也扩大了对话的操练范围,让每个学生都有机会开口说英语。

3. Let’s try(听音选择)

(1)Question 1

T: Let’s talk about Sarah’s father? What does he do?

S: He is a doctor.

T: Yes, her father is a doctor.

(2)Question 2

T: Now let’s listen again and tell me “Who will come to Sarah’s Parents’ Day?”.

S: Sarah’s mother.

T&Ss: Sarah’s mother can come today.

(3)Read the listening dialogue together.

【设计意图】英语课程标准指出,教师可以结合教学的实际需要创造性地使用教材。在本课时,为了使衔接更加自然,教师改变Let’s try板块的题目顺序。先让学生两人一组交流父母的职业,顺势提问What does Sarah’s father do?让学生听录音完成Let’s try板块的第二题;然后再次听录音,做第一题,降低了听力难度,提高了正确率。完成任务后又出示听力文本,让学生认读材料,而学生在认读的过程中又输入了大量语言,为后面的语言输出做好了铺垫。

T: Why doesn’t Sarah’s father come to Parents’ Day?

S: Her father is too busy.

【设计意图】在认读听力文本之后,教师继续提问,让学生对于文本材料有一个更深的理解。

4. Let’s talk

Watch and answer

T: What about Oliver’s Parents’ Day? Can you ask some questions?

Ss: What does Oliver’s father/ mother do?

Who will come to Oliver’s Parents’ Day?

T: Now let’s watch and answer.

【设计意图】由讨论Sarah’s Parents’Day过渡到Oliver’s Parents’Day,自然流畅。文本呈现之前引导学生对Oliver’s Parents’Day主动提问,培养学生主动提问的意识。以视频的形式出示文本又体现了语言教学整体性的原则。

T: What does Oliver’s father do?

S: He is a businessman.

T: What about his mother?

S: She is a head teacher.

T: Who is the head teacher in your school?

S: Miss Chen.

【设计意图】通过提问的方式来检测学生对于head teacher的理解。

T: Who will come to Oliver’s Parents’ Day?

S: Oliver’s mother will come.

T: Why doesn’t his father come to Parents’ Day?

S: His father is too busy. He is a businessman. He often goes to other countries.

【设计意图】通过追问的方式,突破难点句型He is a businessman. He often goes to other countries.的认读及理解。

Step 3 Practice

1. Let the students read the sentences one by one.

【设计意图】让个别学生单独认读句子,有助于教师纠音,提高学生的认读能力,缩小两极分化。

2. Listen and imitate

【设计意图】听音模仿朗读文本,有助于让学生模仿正确的语音、语调,养成良好的语音习惯。

3. Read it in roles

【设计意图】角色扮演,培养学生的对话意识,让学生在角色中学习、掌握知识,提高学生的口头表达能力。

Step 4 Consolidation

1. Look and say

T: Today we know Oliver’s parents’ job.

(师生一起说一说Oliver父母的职业)

T: We know Sarah’s father is a doctor. What does her mother do? Do you know?(学生迟疑)

【设计意图】以思维导图的形式回顾文本,为接下来Oliver、Sarah的叙说对话做好铺垫。

Oliver: What does your mother do?

Sarah: She is a mother.

Oliver: A mother? Silly you! What does she do?Tell me, please!

Sarah: She is a driver.She drives me to school from Monday to Friday.

Oliver: Haha, my mother drives me to school,too.

Sarah: She is a teacher, too.

Oliver: Really? My mother is a teacher,too. She is a head teacher.Does she teach you at school?

Sarah: No, she teaches me at home. She teaches me to ride a bike and helps me do homework.

Oliver: Wow, so cool.

Sarah: She is ______, too.

She is a cleaner. She cleans the room for me.

She is a cook. She cooks the meals for me.

She is a doctor. She helps me.

Oliver: Wow, your mother is so great. She is a really great mother.

【设计意图】英语课程的总目标是要培养学生的综合语言运用能力。本堂课改变了传统对话教学在输出环节只停留在机械模仿或是关键语句输出的层面上,更加关注情感态度在小学英语教学中的价值。让学生真实地表达自己的想法,使得语言更加丰富、更有感情。

2. Enjoy a video about Sarah’s mother’s job

【设计意图】以视频的形式回顾自编对话的内容,对语言进行内化。视频具有更强的感染力,有助于后续情感的表达。

T: Is Sarah’s mother busy?

Ss: Yes.

T: Sarah’s mother is very busy. But she will come to Sarah’s Parents’ Day. Why?

S: Because she loves Sarah very much. She is a great mother.

【设计意图】视频欣赏过后,教师继续追问,让学生感知Sarah的妈妈对Sarah的爱,从而想到自己的妈妈,情感再次得到升华,引发思考。

T: Mother is so great. Does your mother love you?

Ss: Yes.

T: Do you love your mother?

Ss: Yes.

T: What can you do for your mum at home?

Ss: I can wash the clothes for her.

【设计意图】感受妈妈的辛勤付出,体会妈妈的爱,想到要为妈妈做些力所能及的事;树立职业目标,培养为实现职业理想而努力学习的意识。

Step 5 Homework

1. Listen to the dialogue and repeat it three times.

2. Make a new sentence and answer it according to the sentence “What does your father do? He is a businessman.”

3. Talk about your father’s job and the things your father does for you with your partner.
