承载百年深港记忆的中英街

中英街独特的地理位置和人文景观，吸引着我们走进这条平凡又不普通的街道。

The distinctive geographical location and cultural landscape of Zhongying (“Sino-British”) Street still attracts us to visit this ordinary yet unusual historical spot.

中英街原名“鸬鹚径”，地处盐田区南部，长约250米，宽不到4米。1899年3月18日，以《展拓香港界址专条》和《香港英新租界合同》为依据，中英两国在沙头角进行勘界，划为两国分别管理的“深圳沙头角镇”（今深圳市盐田区）和“新界沙头角乡”（今香港新界沙头角墟），中英街就是起源于勘界过程中形成的中英陆地边界线。以中英街上的8块界碑为界，沙头角分为了“英界”和“华界”两部分。

Originally named “Cormorant Trail,” Zhongying Street is situated in the southern part of Yantian District and covers a length of 250 meters with a width of less than four meters. Zhongying Street was once a part of the boundary between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong which was under British rule. On March 18, 1899, China and Britain divided Shatoujiao into  two parts: “Shenzhen’s Shatoujiao Town” (which is now Shenzhen’s Yantian District) and “New Territories’ Sha Tau Kok Town” (which is now New Territories’ Sha Tau Kok Market in Hong Kong). The two sections were demarcated by eight boundary tablets, with one side under British control and the other under Chinese sovereignty.

中英街曾经是东西方冷战对峙的最前沿地区之一，但这一切，在香港回归祖国的那一刻发生了改变。在中英街，居民亲眼见证香港警察换下皇家警察的帽徽，戴上了香港特别行政区的紫荆花徽章。此后，戒备气氛渐渐消失，管理方式由“武装警卫型”转变为“行政管理服务型”。深港边界联络官定期会晤，通报各自防区的动态，彼此之间俨然是熟悉的“老朋友”。

Zhongying Street used to be one of the frontiers of the Cold War confrontation between the East and the West. But the situation changed after Hong Kong’s return to China. Hong Kong police officers of Zhongying Street then took off their royal police cap badges and put on the bauhinia badges of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Since then, the administration of Zhongying Street has been transformed into a service-oriented administration. The Shenzhen-Hong Kong border liaison officers meet regularly to inform each other of the status of their respective administration areas.

随着对外开放的深入，中英街实行放宽入镇人员定额、居民可免税配购建筑材料及家用电器等政策。鼎盛时期，中英街上销售黄金的商铺有89家之多，成为中国最早的“黄金一条街”，也一度被誉为“购物天堂”。

With the deepening of the opening up, Zhongying Street has implemented the policy of relaxing the quota of people entering the street and allowing residents to purchase construction materials and household appliances duty-free. In its heyday, there were as many as 89 shops selling gold on the street, making it the earliest “Gold Street” in China and once known as a shopping paradise.

如今，见证百年沧桑的中英街再度迎来历史性机遇，将借助粤港澳大湾区发展，在“旅游、观光、购物和爱国主义教育”等全新定位下，创造新时代的灿烂辉煌。

Nowadays, with the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Zhongying Street once again ushers in a historic opportunity to create a new era of splendor under the new positioning of tourism, sightseeing, shopping and patriotic education.
