suspense 经常和 in 搭配使用，构成 keep sb in suspense「提心吊胆，吊人胃口」。The suspense is killing me. 除了上面两种译法，还可以根据语境译为「别卖关子了」。在《唐顿》第一季中，也有这句话。

there's a first time for everything 意思是 the fact that sth has not happened before does not mean that it will never happen，多用来打趣，表示「什么事情都有第一次」，要是想传递出开玩笑的意味，还可以译为 「太阳打西边出来啦」。

跟这个短语意思相近的是 Wonders never cease，《唐顿》和《性教育》都出现过。

rain check 很常用，源自 19 世纪初的美国，如果棒球比赛因为坏天气被取消，观众们就会收到一张 rain check，下次他们可以凭 rain check 再来看比赛，所以，rain check 的意思是 used to say that you will do something in the future but not now 「下次吧」。Cooper 是地图测绘员，他害怕狗，所以委婉拒绝了 Jerry 让他跟狗狗说晚安的提议。

如果别人约你看电影，但是你比较忙，就可以说：I’ll take a rain check, thanks.

stuff 在这儿不是「东西」而是指 the qualities of someone's character 「本质，品质」，所以 have the right stuff 用来形容一个人「本事很大，底子很好」。是不是很适合用来夸人？

put / set sb's mind/heart at rest，从字面上看像是「让某人的脑子/心歇一歇」，一般来说，你放心的时候，脑子才会平静下来，所以这个短语的意思是 to make someone feel less anxious or worried「使某人放心/安心」。我们可以引申为「解开心结」。

英语中另一个跟它相似的就是 make peace with yourself。此外，at rest还可以作 die 的委婉语，表示「安息」。

BBC 在《狗狗秘闻》这部纪录片提到，我们喜欢狗，而狗也喜欢人类。所以，它们相比其他动物更亲近人类。当它们看到你回家时，会特别兴奋，因为「家人」回来了。Jerry 说这些是 working dogs工作犬，热爱拉雪橇的工作，直到生命尽头。我不知道狗狗是否真的热爱工作，但它爱你这件事，毫无疑问是真的。
