Intel Celeron N5105 vs AMD Ryzen 5 7535U vs Intel Pentium Silver N6005Intel Celeron N5105 ► remove from comparison

The Intel Celeron N5105 is a quad-core SoC of the Jasper Lake series that is primarily intended for inexpensive desktops and was announced in early 2021. The four Tremont CPU cores clock between 2 and 2.9 GHz (single core Burst) and offer no HyperThreading (SMT). The N5105 uses 1.5 MB L2 and 4 MB L3 cache. The chip is manufactured in 10nm at Intel (most likely in the same process as Ice Lake).

CPU Architecture

The processor architecture is called Tremont and a complete redesign compared to the old Golmont Plus cores in the predecessor. According to Intel, the single thread performance of a core could be improved by 30% on average (10 - 80% in all tests of SPECint and SPECfp).

Features

In addition to the quad-core CPU block, the SoC integrates a 24 EU Intel UHD Graphics GPU clocked from 450 - 800 MHz and a LPDDR4(x) dual channel memory controller (up to 16 GB and 2933 MHz). The chip now also partly integrates Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes, 14 USB 2.0/ 3.2 ports and two SATA 6.0 ports. The package got bigger and measures 35 x 24 mm (compared to 25 x 24 mm for the N5030 e.g.). The SoC is directly soldered to the mainboard (BGA) and can't be easily replaced.

Performance

Thanks to the new CPU architecture, the performance of the N5105 should be slightly faster compared to the old Pentium N5030. The Pentium N6000 however offers clearly higher clock speeds and also a faster gPU. However, it should still lag behind modern Core processors of the Tiger Lake generation. Therefore, the CPU is intended for basic tasks like office suits, web browsing with moderate multitasking.

Power Consumption

Similar to the predecessor, Intel specifies the TDP with 10 Watts (mobile and lower clocked N5100 6W). The chip can therefore be cooled passively in theory, but SKUs with fans are possible as well.

AMD Ryzen 5 7535U ► remove from comparison

The AMD Ryzen 5 7535U is a processor for thin and light laptops based of the Rembrandt refresh generation. The Ryzen packs six of the eight cores based on the Zen 3+ microarchitecture. They are clocked at 2.9 (guaranteed base clock) to 4.55 GHz (Turbo) and support SMT / Hyperthreading (12 threads). The chip is manufactured in 6 nm FinFET at TSMC. The 7535U is the refresh of the 2022 AMD Ryzen 5 6600U and offers 50 MHz higher boost clock at a 3W higher maximum TDP.

The Zen 3+ is a refresh of the Zen 3 architecture and should not offer a lot of changes. The chip offers modern features, like support for USB 4 (40 Gbps), PCI-E Gen 4 and DDR5-4800MT/s or LPDDR5-6400MT/s.

The performance should be quite similar to the old Ryzen 5 6600U due to only a slightly increased boost speed (+50MHz) and TDP (28 versus 15-25W).

The integrated GPU Radeon 660M is still a fast iGPUs based on the RDNA2 architecture and offers 6 of the 12 CUs at up to 1.9 GHz.

The Ryzen 7535U is manufactured in 6nm FinFET at TSMC and specified at a TDP of 28W.

Intel Pentium Silver N6005 ► remove from comparison

The Intel Pentium Silver N6005 is a quad-core SoC of the Jasper Lake series that is primarily intended for inexpensive and small desktop and was announced in early 2021. The four Tremont CPU cores clock between 2 and 3.3 GHz (single core Burst) and offer no HyperThreading (SMT). The N6005 uses 1.5 MB L2 and 4 MB L3 cache. The chip is manufactured in 10nm at Intel (most likely in the same process as Ice Lake).

Features

In addition to the quad-core CPU block, the SoC integrates a 32 EU Intel UHD Graphics GPU clocked from 450 - 900 MHz and a LPDDR4(x) dual channel memory controller (up to 16 GB and 2933 MHz).
